Harborcreek House Fire Engulfs Shed

Posted: Updated:

Quick work by firefighters kept a shed fire in Harborcreek from spreading to nearby homes.

Brookside and Wesleyville fire crews had the flames behind 2034 Cook Avenue under control in minutes, but the shed burned to burned to the ground. The family of three with two pet dogs were safely evacuated from the house.

The heat from the fire also melted the siding on a house next door.

The family that  spotted the fire said the volunteers were quick to respond.

"As I went in en route, I could see the smoke from Buffalo Road. I was on my way to investigate it already ," said John Ropelewski, Deputy Chief of Brookside Fire Department. "Once our rigs got here it was under control in probably three or four minutes," Ropelewski said.

The Brookside Deputy Fire Chief says that the cause of the fire appears to be accidental.

There were no injuries from the fire.
