An Erie woman remains hospitalized in Pittsburgh, after she was shot and robbed over the weekend in Erie. It happened outside of a west side bar.
Friends and family tell us the victim is in critical condition in a Pittsburgh hospital. And they're hopeful police will arrest the suspect who put there her.
The incident happened at 3rd and Cascade, around 3:00 Saturday morning. A 56-year old woman was leaving the corner bar where she worked, and was jumped.
At least one suspect shot her several times and took a money bag. She was rushed to UPMC Hamot and later life-flighted to Pittsburgh for treatment of 3 gunshot wounds.
Friends and family members have created a small memorial in the area where she was shot. While they're hoping for a full recovery, Erie police tonight are looking for leads in the case. They're reviewing surveillance video taken from the scene, and we're told detectives were able to interview the victim Tuesday by phone.
In the meantime, the bar where the victim managed, AJ's Bayview Inn, remains closed. Neighbors we spoke with this afternoon describe what they heard.
"My daughter and I we were just up talking and I heard a bang, and I paused and then a couple more bangs went off and that's when I realized they probably were gunshots," said Kris Dobrich. "I heard a little bit of screaming and just got on the phone and called 911, and yeah, I was pretty scared," Dobrich added.
Investigators have also interviewed several witnesses as part of their investigation.
