Tuesday night, the Sisters of Saint Joseph honor people who've overcome some serious obstacles, to lead fulfilling lives.
The Spirit of Courage awards dinner took place at the Bayfront Convention Center.
It's the 17th year for the event, that honors those who have shown remarkable courage, in overcoming adversity.
"These are ordinary people who have exhibited extraordinary courage, and so we like to recognize them," said Sr. Margaret Ann Hardner. "And so far in 17 years we have recognized 85 people who have been in this category of just great, wonderful courageous people," Sr. Hardner added.
Sr. Hardner with the Sisters of St. Joseph says she believes the honorees' faith helped them overcome their troubles, "Many many times when the people are recognized and they give a little speech or talk afterwards, they'll say 'it was my faith, it was God that helped me get through all these troubling times.'"
WSEE was a proud sponsor of the awards.
