LEXINGTON, Mich. (AP) - Michigan authorities say an armed woman believed to be in her 70s is holding officers at bay inside her car in a small-town police department parking lot.
Port Huron Lt. Scott Pike says officers from his department and Sanilac County sheriff's officials have surrounded her vehicle Saturday afternoon in Lexington and are "trying to get her to surrender."
Pike says the incident started in Port Huron a few hours earlier after officers tried to stop her for a traffic violation. She led them on a 20-mile, high-speed chase that eventually took them north on a two-lane highway along Lake Huron.
At one point during the chase, Pike says she stopped her car, pointed the gun upward and fled again.
Pike says police don't know the woman's mental condition.
