Three new Erie police officers were sworn-in during a ceremony at city hall Monday morning.
Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott gave the oath of office to Mark Schroeck, Gabriel Carducci, and Kevin Mullaney.
Schroeck spent 14 years with the US Coast Guard, Carducci was an Emergycare paramedic for the last six years, and Mullaney was a correction officer at the Erie county prison, and also served as a police officer in Girard.
The new officers replace three members of the department who recently retired.
It keeps the compliment of officers at 173.
"We're committed to the full complement of 173 for our officers," said Sinnott. "We think that's the right number to keep the community safe. We don't want to drop far below that. Anytime we have retirements, we bring the new officers in as quickly as possible," Sinnott added.
The new officers will begin training immediately, and should be on the streets in three months.
