Congratulations on enrolling in your Extreme Weight Loss Challenge! Now that you've begun exercising, here are some of Beyond Basics' top 10 quick tips to start adding to your lifestyle TODAY.
Don't focus on what you cannot eat; focus on what you CAN eat! There's a great big variety of nutritious foods that are waiting to be discovered. Be excited about eating things that you love. Do you love cucumbers? Bell peppers? Carrots? Pears? Apples? Sweet Potatoes? GREAT! Get those, and eat them often when hunger strikes.
Drink MORE water! 8-10 glasses per day, especially when adding in exercise! Water is THE fluid you cannot survive without and is required for proper fat loss.
Kick the processed JUNK. You'll know if it's junk by reading the ingredient label. Can't say it? Looks neon? Has a shelf life longer than any food item ever should?? If the answer is Yes, it's processed.
Get SLEEP. Sleep is how the body repairs itself from your exercise each day and energizes you to continue your healthy lifestyle in the morning!
Pay ATTENTION. Connect with your food! Turn off the TV and focus on what you're eating. Enjoy the food; feel your body respond to eating – if you pay attention, you'll know when it's time to stop, before discomfort and guilt set in.
Be POSITIVE. We cannot say this enough! Negative attitudes make us lose our self confidence that we can actually reach are goals.
Avoid WHITE: sugar, flour, rice & potatoes. While these are naturally occurring foods, they are not as nutrient dense as their colorful counterparts!
Avoid ALCOHOL. Alcohol slows down the metabolism and stresses the liver, slowing (or even halting) weight loss.
Soak your nuts and seeds! Soaking nuts and seeds in water makes the nutrients inside more easily digestible by our GI track. Google to find out how long your favorite nuts/seeds should soak for to receive the full extent of their nutritional benefits!
Talk to a PROFESSIONAL. If you have specific issues with chronic disease, medications, body aches and pains, seek out the right professional to guide you on the BEST path for your body. There is no one size fits all in health.
