Taglianetti Guilty in Shooting of Clymer Superintendent

Posted: Updated:

A Chautauqua County jury has found Anthony Taglianetti guilty of second degree murder for the shooting death of former Clymer School Superintendent Keith Reed.

Prosecutors apparently successfully convinced the jury that Taglianetti drove to western New York to kill Reed believing that the school administrator was having an affair with Taglianetti's wife.

The overwhelming publicity generated by the case slowed down the trial, particularly jury selection in the Mayville New York courtroom.

Defense attorney Nathaniel Barone tried to create reasonable doubt by telling jurors that there were more questions than answers around the case.

But District Attorney David Foley argued that the evidence pointed to only one conclusion, that Taglianetti was guilty of deciding to shoot Reed before driving up from Virginia to commit the crime.

Sentencing is set for February 24th.
