Fort LeBoeuf Volleyball Team Off to Defend State Championship Title

Posted: Updated:

Fort LeBoeuf and Cochranton High Schools both sent their girls volleyball teams off to York, PA on Friday, as they prepare to play in the PIAA championships on Saturday.

Fort LeBoeuf's team, the Lady Bison, are the defending state championships. Friday's send off brought out the entire high school and middle school community to cheer for the team.

Last year marked Erie County's first to win in PIAA Class AA championships.

And if the Bisons win this season, they will be the first District 10 girls volleyball team to win back-to-back state championships.

"There is that nervousness that you get, but at the same time, it's so exciting," said Alex Carroll, a senior on the team. "Everyday, we practice. We've been wishing for this and just trying so hard."

"These are things that just don't happen all the time. And for us to be able to do this, it's really a dream come true. It's just amazing," said Leann Johnson, Fort LeBoeuf's volleyball coach.

Both teams get a last practice at Central York High School today, and the tournament starts at 1pm on Saturday.
