Puppy Jane Doe is four months old and has a family anxiously waiting to adopt her. But just last week, her future didn't look so bright.
"She was hit by a car at the Bayfront," said Jenny Fedei, who's looking to adopt Puppy Jane Doe. "A good Samaritan brought her in."
She came into Glenwood Pet Hospital with two broken legs and no owner. Typically, when animals come in with injuries like that, they don't receive the medical attention the need if they don't have an owner.
But it was a different story, for Puppy Jane.
"In this case, I think she was just so cute and we all felt so bad for her and she grabbed all our hearts that we wanted to do something even though she really didn't have an owner," said Mary Lacoste, a Veterinarian Assistant at Glenwood Pet Hospital.
And it seems that Puppy Jane is pretty good a grabbing hearts Once the hospital posted her picture, Fedei fell in love.
"I'm a sucker for a furry face. I read about her and I saw her picture and I said, 'oh my God! I got to do something."
So Fedei created this Go Fund Me page, and in 24 hours, raised over $2,000 - the amount needed to help this puppy receive a leg amputation.
"I was just looking to maybe help off-set the cost, I was concerned how we were going to pay for that. But I was completely blown away by the generosity for people out there," said Fedei.
Fedei said if no one claims Puppy Jane Doe by Wednesday, she'll become a part of their family. And once she's literally back on her feet, they're thinking of making her a Therapy Dog.
"She would be a dog that would provide love and encouragement in our community," said Fedei. "So we're kind of hoping with everything that's happened to her, she kind of has a story to tell and we'd like her to tell it."
If all goes well, Puppy Jane Doe will need a name. The Fedei's are asking for those who helped donate, for their input on this. To weigh in, click here.
