Over the past month, there's been a number of house fires throughout Erie County, making it a busy time of year for firefighters.
But it's also a busy season, for the American Red Cross of Erie.
In the past month alone, six families have been displaced, totaling 14 people. The Red Cross of Erie has responded to three fires since last weekend.
When a family is displaced, the organization helps provide basic needs such as food, water and shelter. In order to do that, they rely on donations, especially this time of year.
"This is the season, that we start having to need immediate response," said Erie Red Cross Executive Director Pam Masi. "So if they would like to make a year end donation, and consider the Red Cross, we certainly appreciate the Erie community always stepping up to help people in need."
Monetary donations can be dropped of at the local chapter, which is located at 4961 Pittsburgh Avenue.
