Heavy rain doused northwest Pennsylvania, flooding and closing roads throughout Erie and Crawford counties, but many drivers don't heed the "road closed" signs.
"We have multiple roads closed due to heavy flooding. We have crews out, we have signs up, we're manning them 24 hours per day," said Tom Mello, a managing supervisor at PennDOT.
One of those roads is at Route 19 at 6N in LeBoeuf township. The road is closed but a steady stream of drivers plunged right on through the water, which appeared to be four to six inches deep.
PennDot says these drivers are taking a big risk. One 22-year-old Springboro man driving through high water suffered a fatal crash on Saturday night, and one Erie woman was stranded in knee-deep water in her car on Broad Street - incidences exemplifying the dangers.
After the rain stopped, fog set in, potentially obscuring the flooding. And below-freezing conditions on Monday night could cause slick conditions.
"Please, do not drive through standing water. 'Turn around, don't drown' is our motto," Mello said.
As of 6pm Sunday, PennDOT reports following roads in Erie County closed:
Knapp Road (Route 3011) in Conneaut Township is closed to through traffic from Carter Road to Pennside Road.
Route 215 is closed to through traffic from Old Albion Road in Springfield Township to Cherry Hill Road in Conneaut Township.
Old Albion Road (Route 3013) is closed to through traffic from Lexington Road to Gage Road in Conneaut Township.
Cherry Hill Road (Route 3002) is closed to through traffic from Knapp Road to Route 6N in Conneaut Township.
Route 6 is closed to through traffic from Route 19 in LeBoeuf Township to Main Street in Mill Village Borough.

Cambridge Township to Miller Hill Road in Rockdale Township.
Shute Road (Route 2008) is closed to through traffic from Heckman Road
