A 24-year old Dunkirk, New York man is charged with assault and gun charges.
He's identified as Traiquane Nance of Dunkirk.
Police say he shot a man early last Wednesday morning, along Swan street in Dunkirk.
The victim was reportedly trying to stop some sort of vandalism that was happening in the street, when Nance allegedly shot him in the hip.
After a 4-day police manhunt for him, Nance turned himself into police Monday morning.
He was placed behind bars on $40,000 dollars bond.
