Attendance at the Erie Insurance Arena is up, following it's grand re-opening opening in September.
6,000 people were there Sunday to cheer on the Erie Otters.
The number of people at Otters games is up 40 to 50 percent from last year.
In 2012, the Otters were drawing crowds of 2,800.
Attendance jumped to 39 hundred near the end of 2013.
That's an average of over 1,000 people since the new arena was built.
While the Otters' current winning season is certainly helping, directors of the organization say the new arena is also largely to thank, for the new fans.
"The new arena's been a big, big help, " said John Frey, Erie Otters' Director of Operations. "We get a lot of people who haven't been here in a long time who have kind of waited through some of the construction period to come back. And we're getting not only new people to come out, but the same people to come out more than once or twice, they're coming to a number of games," Frey added.
We look forward to all of those sporting events, concerts and even the circus coming to town in 2014.
