Mike Shady Wins Times-News Bowling Tourney, Lee Eighmey Breaks Erie Record

Posted: Updated:

Sunday brought the final day of the 51st "Times-News Bowling Tournament" at Classic Lanes.

Mike Shady won the overall competition.

But Lee Eighmy Junior won something else during yesterday's bowl at Westway Lanes. He set a new record for Erie, with a score of 898, bowling 35 strikes in a row.

"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to shoot three perfect games in a row, let alone 898. There have only been a few people in the U.S. who have ever done that, so it's pretty special to me. And I'm glad my family was there to watch it," Eighmy said.

Lee Eighmey had shared the previous Erie bowling record of 877 with Bob Learn Junior. That record was set about 10 years ago.

Now, Eighmey has the new record all to himself.
