After a harrowing year of financial woes, the Millcreek School Board has a new Business Manager.
During a special meeting Monday night, school board members announced that Aaron M. O'toole will fill the post left vacant by Linnea Lincoln.
Lincoln resigned last month following controversy over the district's financial practices, which was spurred by millions of dollars of debt, and the closing of two schools.
O'toole is a senior accountant for K and L Gates, LLP, in Pittsburgh. Originally from Bradford, Pa, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in 2009.
He was not present at Monday's meeting. O'toole will start as business manager, at the end of the month.
Also on Monday nights agenda, the board voted against adding air conditioning to McDowell High School, but they did approve having surveys done to predict the cost for improvements that include expanding the schools science labs, and moving a student parking lot.
"There's an awful lot of different moving parts, when you do a large project you have to check for soil samples, and you have to check the stability of the foundations, so that's really just to... get the engineers in there, talk with a lot of the firms find out exactly what were looking at and what those costs will be."
The school board is looking at costs for the first phase of a three part renovation to cost somewhere around 9 million dollars.
