A couple of big topics on the agenda for Erie city council this week.
They'll tackle gun violence, and millions in delinquent garbage fees.
In efforts to fight gun violence in the city, on Wednesday's agenda, council will vote to release funds to Mercyhurst University, for consulting services.
The University's Civic Institute will get $60,000, part of a grant from the Department of Justice 'Project Safe Neighborhood.'
The university will analyze data, to help the city come up with the best way to combat violent crime.
It's all part of the DOJ's Violent Gang and Gun Crime Reduction Program.'
And, city council will introduce a resolution to over-ride Mayor Joe Sinnott's veto of council's "sunset provision" ordinance.
Sinnott says the ordinance gives city residents the false hope that the garbage and sewer fee increases, passed this year, could go down next year.
Council member Jessica Horan-Kunco, is set to introduce a resolution over-riding that veto.
They'll need 5 of 7 votes to do that.
