Students at Rolling Ridge Elementary School put in some extra hours in on the basketball court Thursday afternoon after the bell.
The 4th through 6th graders at the school took part in "Hoops of Hope."
The students got to shoot some hoops with members of the Gannon University Men's Basketball team.
It's part of the school's character-development program called Project You."
"The kids get to learn that no matter what your age, what you're faced with in life, you can always make a positive choice and help someone else who is less fortunate than you," said Sara Baker, a Project You Coordinator.
Students also raised funds for Erie Shriners Hospital. They decided to donate money after they met Emily Melish, who has been helped by the hospital. They got to talk to Emily and learn all about how much she has done to give back and were inspired.
