An Erie firefighter is recovering from an eye injury tonight, following a house fire in east Erie.
The fire broke out in a home at 1410 East Lake Road around 7:00 p.m. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke pouring out of the house.
According to Erie Fire Chief Tony Pol, the fire appears to have started in a truck, which then caught the home on fire.
It spread from the first floor, up through the attic, causing heavy damage to the house.
Pol said that one person who lived there got out safely. Firefighters at the scene said three of his five pets made it out of the home and were treated. But two cats were unaccounted for.
Fire investigators are still looking into the exact cause.
