Erie County Council Decides Salaries of New Administrative Positions

Posted: Updated:

Erie County Council voted Tuesday night on five administrative positions and on the salaries of those jobs.

It's at the request of County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper, who wanted to add three new positions, and increase the salaries of two old ones.

Council approved a new position, IT Director for the county at $85,000 dollars per year, which is about $3,000 lower than Dahlkemper's request.

The salary for the Director of Administration was passed for $70,000, about $15,000 less than the proposed salary.

Both the Public Health Director and the Children and Youth Director positions passed with salaries as requested by Dahlkemper, at  $75,000 and $71,000, respectively.

"Some of the members of council felt that all of the position's (salaries) should have been lowered," said County Council president, Dr. Kyle Foust. "I felt that all of them could have been lowered in alignment with what we've done in the past, in alignment with what the cost of living is here in Erie County. We were able to prevail on two of those," he said.

Dahlkemper's request for creating  an administrative assistant  position at a $40,000 dollar salary was tabled.
