An old Peek'n Peak Tradition brought back to Springfest

Posted: Updated:

People were celebrating up at Peek'n Peak on Saturday, but not for St. Patty's Day.

The Peak held their annual Springfest celebration and this year, they brought back an old tradition.

Cardboard artists came from all over, to participate in the "Cardboard Box Derby".

Many competitors came up with their own, original ideas.; sleds modeled after the bat mobile, a mudding truck and even a banana.

"Our sled is called "Banana Express," said Isaac Northrop, of Team Bananas.  "We just thought it'd be funny to make a big banana and slide down as gorillas, you know?"

This is the first time since 1991 that the Peak has held the Cardboard sled races at Springfest.
