A Westfield New York man is facing charges for operating a snowmobile while intoxicated after he crashed into a Chautauqua County Sheriff's car at 12:43 AM Saturday.
The incident happened on Route 430 at Bloomer road in the Village of Mayville. A sheriff's deputy charged 28-year-old Michael Trippy with Snowmobiling while intoxicated, reckless operation of the snowmobile, failing to stop before crossing a highway and failing to yield before crossing a highway.
The sheriff's deputy reported that while on patrol in Mayville, he saw the snowmobile enter the roadway without stopping, nearly hitting a west bound vehicle. The deputy activated his emergency lights to stop the snowmobile, but it continued on the roadway and hit the deputy's car.
Trippy was arraigned in the Town of Chautauqua Court and sent to the county jail in lieu of bail. No one was hurt in the accident.
