One sign that it's the eve of Saint Patrick's Day is the induction of new members of the Knights andLadies of Saint Patrick. The Rince Na Tiarna Irish dancers performed for a special induction dinner Sunday evening at the Erie Maennerchor Club.
The celebration followed a liturgy inducting Mary Ellen Brown, Dr. Maureen Barber-Carey, Paul Hakel, Mary Kulyk, Michael Malthaner, Caleb Pifer, Mary Beth Wachter and Richard"Chip" Wachter. We asked the president and one inductee what it's all about.
"The purpose is to honor people active in church, community, just in general active good people of Irish descent...normally," said President Jim Healy.
"It is a lovely honor to be a member of this organization and it's a wonderful way to celebrate my Irish heritage and to also support the church and community," said new inductee Mary Beth Wachter.
The organization was founded in 1978 by Monsignor Daly.
