This summer, Erie county will once again be filled with things to do, like festivals, competitions and other attractions and events.
And on Thursday, the groups behind those events got a financial helping hand.
The Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA) awarded more than $160,000 dollars to 56 parades, festivals and other events.
Events like the Barber Beast on the Bay, Fourth of July parades and fireworks displays, will all benefit.
"Events are important because of the contribution to the economy due to tourism and quality of life stuff," said Perry Wood, the Executive Director of the ECGRA. "But I'm most proud of the fact that these are leadership opportunities for people that live in Erie," Wood added.
In all, 38 Erie county non-profits got funding Thursday from the Gaming Revenue Authority.
