The stage is set for the NCAA Division II women's basketball Elite Eight Championship.
West Texas A&M and Bentley will square off for the national championship game. As the game approaches, both teams are preparing mentally and physically.
"I'm really pleased with how our team has been playing this week," said Casey Land of West Texas A&M. "I think we're hungry. We've played together, and just going to battle with each other and that's really showed this week in the tournament."
The Lady Buffs defeated Nova Southeastern in the semifinals, 80-66, to clinch a spot in the championship game. The team is hoping to carry that momentum into the final game.
"This is the ultimate goal...what we set out to do from the beginning of the year," said Sally Higgins of West Texas A&M. "There's lots of little goals along the way, this is all kind of leading up to this."
Bentley players are also getting ready for the big game.
"There's mixed emotions about it being our very last game, and it being in the national championship," said Christiana Bakolas of Bentley. "We have seven seniors, so either way this is our very last game in a Bentley uniform. It's bittersweet, but we're certainly very excited."
The Falcons enter the game 34-0 after defeating Cal Poly Pomona 77-62. The team is hoping to end the season with a perfect record.
"We're just going to go out their and play Bentley basketball," said Lauren Battista of Bentley. "It's worked for 34 games, so we're hoping it will work for 35."
The championship game is tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at the Erie Insurance Arena.
