Volunteers are needed for the 58th annual spring cleanup of Presque Isle beaches. The event is scheduled for Saturday April 19, with volunteers asked to report to Rotary Pavilion between 9-11am.
Organizers hope to gather up to 2,000 pounds of trash and debris. Many organizations turn out every year to work together to get the beaches clean before the busy summer season.
Environmental Educator Brian Gula said, "We are always trying to promote a leave no trace mentality and I think if you want a clean beach, if you want less litter on the beach for people to see, it passes on a message along that this is a clean park, let's keep it clean."
Volunteers will get cleanup materials, and lunch for donating their time.
