Hundreds of kids got their fill of cupcakes today at the second annual "Cupcakes for Kids" benefit, held at the Erie Day School and hosted by the Bradley H. Foulk Children's Advocacy Center.
Ten local vendors brought a total of 4,000 cupcakes to the event, organized to raise awareness on child abuse prevention and funds for the Children's Advocacy Center. The center provides services to kids who have suffered from physical or sexual abuse.
Shops and bakers at the event competed for the title of best cupcake, judged by both a panel and the crowd.
"It's just so awesome. I love the cupcakes, and I just think it's really good," said Luke Kovacs, 7, of Erie. "It's sort of like where all of your friends gather around, you get to taste cupcakes, then vote for one which you think is the best."
Well the people voted, and their say for the best cupcake in town went to Tutu Cafe.
The judges voted Edinboro shop Flip Cafe's cupcake the best tasting.
Best decoration went to the cupcake created by Mercyhurst's Hospitality department.
