The Erie Sports Commission is seeking volunteers for four major events this summer, including The Zombie Run, The Color Run, The Biggest Loser RunWalk and Life's a Beach Triathlon.
If you are interested in helping, and you sign up to work through the Erie Sports Commission you will receive a certificate documenting your volunteer service. You can email firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer or to get more information.
The sports commission provided a summary of each of the events.
Saturday, May 17: The Zombie Run: Extreme and The Zombie Run: Black Ops will be held at Lake Erie Speedway in North East. Racers will be tested as they dodge an army of brain-thirsty undead while scrambling through a series of rugged obstacles. The Zombie Run: Extreme begins at 9 a.m. and The Zombie Run: Black Ops begins at 9 p.m. Volunteers are needed for both races for help with check-in, assisting on the course and much more.
Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22: The Biggest Loser RunWalk returns to Erie! Join Dan and Jackie Evans from Season 5 for the weekend's events, which include a registration and wellness expo on Saturday, and the Half Marathon, 5K and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run on Sunday. The event will be held on the campus of Penn State Behrend. Volunteers for this event are needed to work water stations, registration and at the start/finish line.
Saturday, August 9: More than 10,000 runners are registered to participate in The Color Run to be held in downtown Erie/Perry Square. The race and colorful finish-line festival will be held in downtown Erie at Perry Square. The size of this race fosters a need for any individual or groups of volunteers that are willing to help. The event's partnering nonprofit, United Way of Erie County, is coordinating volunteers. Those interested in helping should contact United Way, or sign up at http://www.getconnectederie.org.
Saturday August 16: Life's a Beach Triathlon is coming to the beautiful shores of Lake Erie at Presque Isle State Park. Enjoy the sand, surf and sun while helping out with this first-time, fun and family-friendly event.
