Five outstanding women were honored Thursday night, as finalists for the Woman of the Year Award.
It's the 27th year for the award, which is given by the Women's Roundtable.
It recognizes exceptional women who help others, and go above and beyond their job duties.
This years finalists are Cheryl Bates of the United Way, Lucia Conti of UPMC Hamot, Emily Hirsch, Director of the NICU at UPMC Hamot, Denise Kolivoski, Executive Director of NAMI, and Brenda Newport, founder of the Women's Care Center.
"The five women that are finalists are outstanding," said Mary Macie, Chair of the Woman of the Year Committee. "The nominations were unbelievable, we had so many this year and every one of them could've been a finalist. I wouldn't have wanted to be one of the judges."
The 2014 Woman of the Year will be announced at a banquet on May 15th.
