News Anchor Loses Again at Erie Special Olympics

Posted: Updated:
Penn State Behrend hosted the annual City of Erie Special Olympics track and field meet today.

Athletes from the city schools participated in running, jumping, and throwing events. The age restrictions were lowered this year to allow kindergarten students to compete.  This is an event where volunteers outnumber the athletes.    Many of the volunteers are students at Behrend.   The athletes all received  hugs, high fives, and finisher ribbons.

"They really enjoy coming out here because it's local and they can come and compete with each other and meet some of these college kids and just have a fun, great day that everybody enjoys," said Nikki Delsandro, Manager, Erie Special Olympics.

WICU News Anchor Mike Ruzzi served as master of ceremonies again this year.  He also participated in a wheelchair race with a Special Olympian who beat him last year.
Mike gave a good effort, but the outcome was the same.
