Attic Fire Displaces Family of Nine

Posted: Updated:
Nine people are displaced after fire raced through their attic.  The fire broke out about 8:15 PM Saturday in a home at 1146 East 30th Street.
Fire crews arriving on the scene found heavy smoke pouring from the attic. Firefighters managed to keep the flames from spreading to the rest of the home, but fire officials say there is heavy smoke and water damage to the rest of the home.
A fire inspector was called to the scene to help determine what sparked the fire.  Sources at the scene say a space heater is one possible cause.
The Red Cross is helping the family.
