It's now official. Erie is the winner of this season's Golden Snow Globe Award for the snowiest city in America. 138.4 inches of snow is the official total for the City of Erie. We beat Syracuse, New York by about 6 inches.
So, we wanted to know how proud Erie citizens are for their city having this distinction?
CAITLIN LOUDON-LECOM STUDENT
"I mean if we're going to get all that snow we might as well win something for it. But, I would have been just as happy without the snow. It's a nice award to have I guess."
"I think its kind of weird to win an award for most snow. It's kind of fun idea that they have something like that."
"I'm glad that Erie's able to get something unique that usually goes to Michigan or the Midwestern states."
"well, it's nice to have the honor as long as we had all that snow. But it wouldn't have mattered to me one way or another. I didn't hope for it."
MARY LOU CAMERY-GIRARD
"I don't know really what to say about that because I'm glad we're on top of that line. It's about time Erie actually got something."
"Better Erie than Warren. We'll take the Cold Award. You can take the snow."
The Golden Snow Globe Award was made up by just some guy with a web site. And..the web site says there is no tangible award. They'll be no snow globe being presented to the mayor. Nothing like that. All Erie gets is bragging rights.
