Erie firefighters thank the community for "filling the boot" Friday with over $23,000 and counting for muscular dystrophy.
That total surpasses the $22,000 raised last year.
The firefighters spent the day at area intersections, hospitals, banks and credit unions.
This marks the 44th year for the annual fundraiser.
All the money raised goes to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
This year, the fundraiser focused on 16-year-old Jack Armbruster. He's an Erie teenager who recently passed away after suffering from muscular dystrophy.
