An Erie man accused of robbing a local bank last Monday is behind bars tonight, awaiting arraignment.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Lorenzo Mills, was taken into custody just after 7:00 p.m. Monday.
According to police, Mills was spotted near West 26th and Myrtle Streets around 5:00 p.m. But, the detective that recognized Mills lost sight of him. Shortly after, police received a tip that Mills was seen at Saint Vincent Hospital.
According to Lt. John Nolan, police then searched the hospital and eventually found him on the fourth floor in a patient's room. Mills was then taken into custody.
Mills is accused of robbing the PNC Bank at 901 State Street last Monday. Police say Mills gave the teller a note that demanded money, indicating that he had a gun, although he didn't show one.
As of now, police are not saying exactly why Mills was at Saint Vincent Hospital. Mills is expected to be arraigned by Judge Tom Carney Tuesday morning.
