Teens Charged After Police Chase and Traffic Accident

Posted: Updated:
Two 18-year-old Erie men are behind bars facing a long list of criminal charges, including drug and firearm possession, after police say the pair led them on a high speed chase Friday night.  The chase ended in an accident that injured two people, one of them an 8-year-old girl.

The pursuit began about 8:30 Friday night near East 23rd and Parade Street.  That's when police say a silver sedan sped past them.  They followed the car to pull it over, but officers say the driver did not stop and continued to speed through east side residential neighborhoods.

The chase ended at 29th and German Street, when the fleeing car slammed into a parked car, pushing it into a little girl on the sidewalk by her front porch. She was thrown into the air.  The child's father, Delorean Walls tells us she suffered a concussion and his five-year-old daughter was almost hit as well.   "My kids almost lost their lives yesterday," said Wall, "both of my kids."  He added, "My other child she just stepped off the porch. Luckily my other child had the common sense to run.  She got up on the porch and they missed her by a couple inches."

Police arrested the driver, 18-year-old Angelo Moore of the 1700 block of Poplar Street and his passenger 18-year-old Brandon Carlson of Chapin Street.  Moore was arraigned on charges including fleeing and attempting to elude police, aggravated assault by vehicle, causing an accident involving death or personal injury, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing drugs, reckless driving and numerous other traffic violations.  He was placed in the Erie County Prison with bond set at $125,000 cash.  Carlson is charged with two counts of drug possession and possessing a firearm.

Several neighbors said they did not hear police sirens, warning them of the chase and that a number of kids are very active in that neighborhood.
