The trial is now underway against an Erie man, charged with slashing the throats of an elderly couple and robbing them.
The suspect, 23-year-old Adam Brown, is facing a number of charges including attempted homicide.
The incident happened in July of last year. Prosecutors accuse Brown of attacking Frank and Elfreda Karmazin and robbing their home. Brown was later arrested following a police chase in the couple's vehicle.
On Monday, Elfreda described the attack in court. She testified that Brown asked to use the phone then barged in and attacked the couple, slitting both of their throats.
The couple spent more than a month recovering from their injuries at the Edinboro Manor. Frank Karmazin died after the attack, but the coroner ruled the attack didn't cause his death.
Testimony is scheduled to resume on Tuesday morning.
