Four local teens received scholarships for their community service efforts during a dinner Monday night at the Ambassador.
The Italian American Women's Association of Erie awarded the scholarships.
The group fosters Italian Heritage in the city.
Scholarships are a driving force behind the group. They go to students of Italian decent that demonstrate community service and good grades.
"This is one of our biggest reasons for fundraising," said Christina Flanagan, president of the Italian American Women's Association of Erie. "As a group of women, we of course want to promote women, self-promote higher education, and we want to see them succeed, so we want to give them that stepping stone to do that."
Eva Mastromatteo, of SEE News, emceed the award presentation.
