Albion Man Charged With Meth Explosion In Apartment Building

Posted: Updated:
One man is facing charges for an explosion inside an Albion apartment complex.
Police say was sparked by a working meth lab.

Monday afternoon's explosion was shocking, but when neighbors learned just what happened, they were even more upset.

61-year old Edward Melton is facing several charges, including drug possession and risking a catastrophe.
He lives in the Barnett apartment building in Albion.

That's where an explosion and flash fire in his apartment Monday afternoon, forced more than 100 people from the complex.
Another man is in a Pittsburgh hospital's burn unit, recovering from injuries he sustained in the blast.

Police say it all started because of a meth making lab, they were allegedly using a one-pot method to cook the meth.

Melton is in the Erie county prison with bond set at $10,000.
