Plans for Presque Isle Lighthouse Moving Forward

Posted: Updated:
New developments are boosting plans to restore the historic Presque Isle Lighthouse, and open it to the public.
The state will complete the purchase of a home next month for the assistant park manager who lives in the lighthouse.
Once he moves out, a new non-profit group, the Presque Isle Station organization, will begin leasing the complex from the state. And step up the effort to secure funding for the restoration work.
Park Manager Harry Leslie said, "The state has committed some funds to the restoration going to move forward. So we should be seeing quite a bit of activity then multiple sources of funding to take place."
The state will formally sign the lease with the new non profit group during a ceremony planned for late July, during Discover Presque Isle.
