For the past five years, the Perry Square Alliance has kept Erie's downtown park looking beautiful. But, the alliance could not have done the job without some help.
The Kiwanis Club, PNC Bank, Stairways Behavioral Health, and Gannon University, made a commitment to the alliance five years ago. They each adopted a corner of the park and give financial help to keep it looking green and fresh. Today, volunteers planted new flowers and shrubs in the Kiwanis Club corner. Alliance members say the financial helpers have done a great deal over the past five years.
"I have seen the "before" pictures recently. I'd forgotten what it looked like before. It was just stank and boring. And now it really has a lot of life to it. So, I'm very pleased with what has happened in the park," said Gloria Knox.
Kiwanis, Gannon, and Stairways each renewed its commitment to the program for another three years. PNC Bank is committed for another two years.
