Members of UAW Local 1186 have approved a new 4-year contract with Accuride Corporation. Accuride employs 209 union members at its plant on East 12th Street in Erie. The plant manufactures aluminum wheels for the automotive industry.
The two sides agreed to an early bird contract. The old contract was not set to expire until September. The new pact calls for salary increases in each of the 4 years. It also includes increased benefits.
The new contract comes at a time the Erie plant is outperforming Accuride plants in South Carolina and Mexico, according to Union President Mike Sherbin. Also, $20 million was recently spent by the company to upgrade its Erie facilities.
