Congratulations to the Erie Explosion for wining their second straight CIFL title but unlike last year it did not come easily. Last season, the Explosion went unbeaten and played the title game at home. This season, they had to beat the two teams in the playoffs on the road that beat them during the regular season but got the job done. They played the title game in what was a farm show arena with cement walls as boundries. No, it was not easy. Give owner Bill Stafford and head coach Shawn Liotta credit. Liotta's reputation is well know at this level and it's attracting good players to Erie who may play at the next indoor football league level or even get a shot in the CFL this summer. Stafford's enthusiasm is evident as he promotes the team and the home games. It's not an easy sell but he's managed to survive in a unstable league and be the best both on and off the field. So they derserve the credit for winning and for adding another great sports product to our area.
