The Erie County District Attorney's Office has made an arrest concerning drug activity at the Erie County Prison. Charges were filed today against Nathan Howard, 48. Howard is currently an inmate at the prison.
The charges were filed after a 5-week investigation conducted by Erie County Detective Tony Bozich following the overdose death of a 35-year old inmate last month. Howard was charged with Contraband (possession) Three counts of Contraband (furnishing), and Drug Delivery Resulting in Death. The criminal complaint against Howard revealed that the drugs involved in the inmate's death were heroin and Fentanyl.
District Attorney Jack Daneri said the investigation produced no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by prison employees.
