LOS ANGELES, June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS® today announced the launch of a campaign to offer earthquake survival kits to local residents.
"This campaign is the latest example of our commitment to serve and help our community," said CEO Edward Segal.
Unlike most other natural disasters, earthquakes strike suddenly, without warning and can occur any time of the year, day or night. The Federal Emergency Management Administration says that California experiences the most frequent damaging earthquakes.
The 3-day/2-person emergency survival kits include all of the basic supplies recommended by the American Red Cross including: food bars, water pouches, emergency blankets, wet wipes, waste bags, flashlight, batteries and a first aid kit. The survival kits are contained in a backpack with enough room to carry additional food, prescriptions, and other personal items.
The kits can be purchased by the public for $65 at the Association's retail store located at 6330 San Vicente Boulevard, Suite 100 in Los Angeles. The store is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Phone orders can be placed by calling 310-967-8800, or via email at email@example.com.
The 7,600-member Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of REALTORS® serves Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Culver City and West Hollywood.
