Better without Tiger ???

Posted: Updated:
The U.S. Open tees off this week at famed Pinehurst, the second major of the year and like the Masters, no Tiger Woods.  His back injury and minor surgery to correct the problem keeps him off the course for now.  While Tiger is always a story no matter what tournament is being held, golf lives on without him.  Great storylines this weeks like Phil Mickelson, a six-time runner up and needing a US Open title to complete the career Grand Slam.  Bubba Watson, winner of the Masters and the only golfer to have a shot at the elusive Grand Slam in one calender year or how about the bounce back of former number one Rory McIlroy.  After a much publicized break-up with tennis star Carolina Wozniaki, he's been on fire with top ten finishes in eight of the last ten tournaments he's played including a win.  Could a youngster like Jordan Spieth win his first major too ???  Tiger is good for golf as more fans watch when Tiger is in the hunt.  But if you like golf, professional golf, there is still plenty of great players out there ready to take it to the next level.  Let's be honest, Tiger has not won a major since 2008, or six years ago.  And I'm not sure anyone if he'll ever win another.  But it is fun to watch his dramatic career as it takes another turn.
