Erie Police Say Mom Fed Her Baby Liquor

Posted: Updated:
One month after an a one-year old baby was brought to the hospital with an elevated blood alcohol level, that child's mother is in trouble with the law.
She told 12News it was all an accident.
But still, investigators say they have enough evidence to file charges.

Erie police are now accusing 26-year old Jessica Bachmaier of endangering the welfare of a child, along with reckless endangerment,
and furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Those charges are all misdemeanors.

Last month, Bachmaier brought her 13-month old daughter Nevaeh to the hospital, after she says the child just wasn't acting right.
Doctors discovered the child had a blood alcohol level about three times higher than the legal limit for an adult to drive.

Police say Bachmaier was the only person who provided the baby with anything to eat or drink, before taking her to the hospital.
According to the criminal complaint, detectives allege she knowingly furnished liquor to her baby.

In an exclusive interview with 12News last month, Bachmaier told us that she fed the baby a bottle with what she thought was a mixture of water and formula, but it turned out to be vodka.

These charges come after a four-week long investigation into her story.

Bachmaier said a male friend was babysitting while she was at work.
Police say he will not be charged.
