Posted: Updated:
On Mercyhurst University's main campus, students came from all over the world, to take a course this week on bone trauma.

It's part of Mercyhurst's summer short courses offered by their forensic anthropology department.
The subject this week was bone trauma.

Dr. Steven Symes is a forensic anthropologist, who specializes in bone trauma.
He's sought after by agencies around the world, to investigate and testify in criminal cases.

In fact, he just got back from testifying last week at the trial of accused serial killer, Cody Alan Legebokoff, in British Columbia.

The Canadian was 18 at the time, and is accused of beating and murdering 3 women and a teen, all who ranged in age from 15 to 35 years old.

It's Dr. Symes expertise in cases like that, that attracted about 30 students to take his short course on bone trauma.

Taking the course this week, college students, to investigative experts from across the country and even world. Students from as far away as Cyprus and Australia took the course this week, "(They learn) how bones break, how damaged bones can be interpreted in a forensic case, and how damaged bones might tell more of a story in a criminal situation, when a jury need to know exactly what happened to the victim," said Dr. Symes.
