Update: New Details Emerge about Teen Found in Landfill

Posted: Updated:
New details are emerging about the young woman whose body was found in a Mercer County landfill.

Reports out of Youngstown now say the 16- year- old had multiple stab wounds, and her mother believes she was abducted.

16- year- old Gina Burger was reported missing from her home on Tuesday, and austintown Police Chief Bob Gavalier confirms that the body found was hers.

She was reported as a runaway, but her mother told reporters at WKBN in Youngstown that her daughter left their apartment to borrow tea bags from a neighbor, and never returned home.

The teen's body was discovered in a landfill near Grove City on Wednesday afternoon.

The autopsy was performed in Erie by Doctor Eric Vey, and Austintown police got the case Friday morning.      reported Gina's mother as saying her daughter was "a sweet, caring, trusting girl..... with a good heart."

A terrible tragedy with few answers right now.
