Following a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, former McDowell athletic trainer and longtime District 10 official Jack McIntire died late Saturday night. He was 62 years old. McIntire is survived by his wife Rhoda and three children-Renee, Hunter, and Joe. For over two decades, McIntire worked as an athletic trainer at McDowell. In 1999, McIntire became an assistant Athletic Director under the late Dave Hanlon and then took over in 2003 after Hanlon's death. McIntire also served as the District 10 wrestling chairman, plus the director of cross country, softball, and track and field championship events. This past spring, McIntire received the first ever Varsity Cup Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Erie Times News. More information on viewing times and funeral schedule will be announced soon.
