Flagship Niagara Makes a Stop at Its Home Port this Fourth of July

Posted: Updated:
The Flagship Niagara took a break from sailing the Great Lakes to make a stop in at its home port this Fourth of July.

The Erie Maritime Museum opened its doors, and the Flagship Niagara to the public this Fourth of July. 3,000 to 5,000 thousand visitors are expected to stop by and get a glimpse of the Niagara. 12 News caught up with a few visitors who told us they were excited to get a free tour of the museum, and experience such a big part of Erie's history.

"I've lived in Erie for quite a while and I've never taken the time to come down here and see it," said Erie resident, Robin Bretz. "I was really missing out on a lot. I'm so glad I came down here today and see it."

"It was a great opportunity to see both the museum and the ship and they had plenty of people around to tell you about it," said Kathy Leemhius. "So it was very nice."

After the Fourth of July, the Niagara will set sale on the Great Lakes for the rest of the summer. The Niagara's next stop is in Buffalo, New York next weekend.
