Local Firefighter Injured While Responding to Garage Fire

Posted: Updated:

A local firefighter was sent to the hospital after responding to a garage fire.

It happened on Station Road in Harborcreek around 10:30 Saturday morning. According to crews on the scene, the owners tried to put out the fire with a hose before calling for help. Luckily, the Brookside Fire Hall is located right across the street, allowing crews to respond quickly. The family wasn't hurt, but a local firefighter sustained a knee injury.

"He had a knee injury, so we took him in for observation at Hamot," said Assistant Fire Chief at the Brookside Fire Hall, Campy Dahlkemper. "I don't think it's very serious, I think his knee popped out. He was in a lot of pain."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
